Research Interests:
Polypeptide biomaterials. Investigate the synthesis and functionalization of polypeptides used as drug carriers, gene vectors, or immune-modulators; explore the biological effect and modulation of secondary structure of polypeptides.
Intelligent drug delivery systems. Explore the fabrication, assembly, therapeutic efficacy, and biological mechanisms of delivery systems for proteins/peptides, nucleic acids, small-molecule drugs, and gas molecules.
Anti-cancer and anti-inflammation therapies. Design novel nanomedicine to manipulate the immune microenvironment of inflammation and cancer; develop advanced therapeutic strategies for the treatment of tumor, inflammation (hepatitis, pancreatitis, myocardial infarction, pneumonia, ischemic stroke, osteoarthritis), and auto-immune diseases (ulcerative colitis, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus).
Research Accomplishments:
Yin’s research interests are mainly focused on the development of polymeric biomaterials and drug/gene delivery systems for the treatment of tumor, inflammation, and auto-immune diseases. He has published over 150 peer-reviewed papers with a total non-self citation of over 9000 and an H-index of 50. He holds 19 Chinese patents and 2 US patents. He is the author for the chapter of “Nanoparticles” in “Biomaterials Science, 4thEdition” (Elsevier) and “Polymers for protein delivery” in “Encyclopedia of Nanomaterials” (Elsevierr). He co-chaired the symposium of “Design, Synthesis and Engineering of Polypeptides for Biological and Biomedical Applications” in the 258thACS Meeting (San Diego), and served as the guest editor for the thematic issue of “Synthetic Polypeptides for Drug and Gene Delivery, and Tissue Engineering” forAdv Drug Deliver Rev. He is also the Associate Editor of Biomaterials Science (Royal Chemistry Society) and Assistant Editor of Journal of Controlled Release (Elsevier). He is awarded by the National Science Foundation for Distinguished Young Scholars and the National Science Foundation for Excellent Young Scholars, China, and is appointed as the ‘‘Distinguished Professor’’ of Jiangsu Province.
