International Workshop of The Technique and Instrumentation of X-ray Emission Spectroscopy was successfully held on October 21-22, 2019 in Suzhou. The workshop was co-organized by Soochow University-Western University Centre for Synchrotron Radiation Research (SWC) and the Institute of Functional Nano and Soft Materials (FUNSOM), which was also the annual workshop of SWC in 2019.
Many international synchrotron radiation experts were invited to give talks on this workshop, including Dr. Gerald Todd Seidler from University of Washington, Dr. Yong-Feng Hu from Canadian Light Source, Dr. Way-Faung Pong and Dr. Chao-Hung Du from Tamkang University, Dr. Zheng Jiang from Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility, Dr. Xiao-Song Liu from Shanghai Institute of Microsystem an Information Technology, CAS and several researchers from SWC. The total delegates was nearly 40, some of them were from various institutes and universities in China.
The workshop was opened by Dr. Xuhui (Jeff) Sun, vice director of SWC & FUNSOM. Dr. Tsun-Kong Sham, director of SWC, provided welcome remarks afterwards, and introduced the original intention and objectives of this workshop, he hoped this workshop can provide a platform to all delegates to share the latest outputs and discuss further cooperation plan. This workshop has four sessions, first three sessions were invited talks, including the latest progress in synchrotron radiation X-ray absorption spectrum technology and X-ray emission spectrum technology and the innovation achievements of related instrument research. The final session was free discussion, in combination with the latest scientific research data and information obtained in previous sessions, participants discussed the possibility of deepening scientific research cooperation in the future, exchanged scientific research ideas, and carried out active and warm discussions on a series of cutting-edge research hotspots of synchrotron radiation technology.
