PENG, JUN

Principal Investigator

Dr. Peng received his PhD from The Australian National University (ANU) in 2018. He was then employed as a postdoc by the ANU solar group; and in 2020, he was awarded a 2-year Australian Centre for Advanced Photovoltaics (ACAP) fellowship to continue his research at ANU as a research fellow. In 2022, Dr. Peng joined the Institute of Functional Nano and Soft Materials (FUNSOM) of Soochow University as a principal investigator.

About the PI

Dr. Peng focuses on the development of high-performance perovskite solar cells, perovskite-silicon tandems and silicon solar cells. He achieved three certified steady-state efficiency records for perovskite solar cells with an active area of more than 1cm2, including:

² Achieved two certified steady-state efficiencies of 21.6% and 22.6% [by CSIRO] for 1cm2perovskite solar cells in 2019 [note that these two certified efficiencies were recorded in the Solar Cell Efficiency Tables (Versions 55-59)];

² Collaborated with EPFL and achieved a steady-state efficiency of 21.52% [aperture area ~26.02 cm2, certified by NPVM] for perovskite cell mini modules in 2022.

He published more than 60 peer-reviewed papers (received a total citation of more than 4100 times, h-index 33,https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=bLq6CN8AAAAJ&hl=en) inNature (1#, first-author), Science (1#, first-author), Nature Energy, Nature Electronics, Science Advances, Joule, Energy & Environmental Science, Advanced Energy Materials, Advanced Functional Materialsetc. Besides, he has one Chinese patent and applied for one Australian patent and one PCT patent.

About the Team

Our focus is on developing novel semiconductors and passivation materials for photovoltaics including but not limited to perovskite solar cells and perovskite-silicon tandems. Our goal is to advance the efficiency and stability of large-area perovskite cells and perovskte-silicon tandems, therefore bridging the technology transformation between lab fabrication and industrial production.

We have strong collaborations with many of the leading research institutions including The Australian National University, École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), The University of Melbourne, The University of New South Wales and National University of Singapore.

Positions

We currently have 4 postdoctoral positions available, and we are looking for candidates who have relevant experience and a strong academic research track record in relevant areas of physics, chemistry, materials science or engineering. There are also 4 scholarships for master or PhD students each year.
